Village get off the mark

T
he drought for
Village United finally came to an end as the Trelawny team got their first win of the season in the Cash Plus Premier League. A 77th penalty by Troy Smith and another by Omar Allen in time-added-on gave Village an unlikely 2-0 win over St. Georges Sports Club and their first full points this season from 13 games. Village still occupy the bottom of the standings, however, with eight points.

Only Wednesday, St. Georges were riding a high wave after beating Harbour View 2-0. The Portlanders have slipped to fourth spot with 18 points.

While Smith and Allen were the goalscorers, the architect of the victory was club stalwart Fabian Dawkins, who had a foot in both goals. In the first instance, his cross was handled by Dale Wallace while on the second occasion his cross was slotted home by Allen from inside the six-yard box.

The four couples visited the island in June 2006 and were expecting to have the time of their lives. Four days after they arrived and checked into the Whiffle-Tree Villa in Runaway Bay, St.Ann, however, they were robbed by three armed men.
